KITTEN ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At Coonmagic Maine Coons we take great pride in our cats and kittens and strive to ensure that all our cats are placed in the most suitable of homes. You, as the Buyer, agree to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure a kitten/ cat. The Buyer is aware that this does not provide them with the right to have the ‘pick’ of the litter as there will be other people waiting for their kitten/ cat and Coonmagic’s breeding programme takes precedence
Your new family addition has been bred with love and we (the Seller) want the best for both the kitten/ cat and their new owners (the Buyer). To this end we try and match kittens with prospective owners
Below is an outline of not only our responsibilities but our expectations of future Coonmagic owners
We guarantee that the kitten/ cat you have purchased is a purebred Maine Coon and that at least one parent is registered with one of the Registered Cat Fancy Bodies in South Australia (the other parent may be registered with an interstate body)
We guarantee that the kitten/ cat is in good health at the time of leaving our cattery, having been seen by our veterinarians at least twice for health checkups. Our kittens have been vaccinated at least twice, as per our veterinarians’ protocol, with F3. If the Buyer chooses to inoculate for feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), or FIV afterward the warranty is invalidated
As the Buyer we strongly encourage you to have the kitten/ cat examined by your Veterinarian within 72hr of purchase to establish your support network, record their microchip, desexing details etc. and advise us of the results. If during this appointment the kitten is said to be unwell a written report will be supplied to the Breeder. To this end, we reserve the right to request a second opinion from a Veterinarian of our choice and at our expense. In the unlikely event of a diagnosed illness confirmed by our Veterinarian, the Breeder will pay medical expenses to half the purchase price of the kitten/ cat. The Buyer can within five days of confirmed diagnosis cancel the contract and return the kitten/ cat to the Breeder for refund of purchase price, transport costs excluded
In the highly unlikely event that the kitten/ cat dies within two years due to a congenital or hereditary defect we will replace the kitten/ cat of similar or better quality
To determine if the kitten/ cat’s death was caused by a congenital or hereditary defect proof is required from the Buyer. This will be in the form of a complete necropsy report and will include the complete medical history of the kitten/ cat and performed at the Buyer’s expense by their attending Veterinarian. This information will then be forwarded to the Seller who will then make every attempt to replace the kitten/ cat with similar quality, markings and colour
Coonmagic does not refund for change of mind
We strongly advise the Buyer to isolate their new family addition from other pets at least until your Veterinarian examination and failing to do this will void the warranty. If this is a sole pet we suggest keeping a small area for your kitten/ cat to explore so it gets used to their new surrounds and layout
To this end, it is not uncommon for your new family addition to show signs of stress like constipation, loose bowels and sneezing, watery or runny eyes. This should settle within a week or two however if you are at all concerned please consult your Veterinarian for advice / treatment and advise Coonmagic
All our animals are raised on Royal Canin. Your kitten has been raised on Royal Canin Kitten food both wet and dry and had only human-grade meats, fresh water daily and is used to Breeders Choice kitty litter
All kittens leaving Coonmagic will be supplied with a Kitten Pack
This contains:
- Certification of desexing;
- Certification of at least 2 F3 vaccinations;
- Certification of microchipping;
- Worm-treated and flea-treated;
- Royal Canin Kitten dry food and wet food;
- A sample pack of Breeders Choice kitty litter;
- Some toys and a cuddle rug with familiar scents to help them settle;
- 6 week free PetPlan Insurance;
- 5 Generation Pedigree
Coonmagic is our hobby and we are passionate about how our kittens/ cats. We love to hear from the new owners about how your family member is going and request that you contact us after your first Veterinarian check-up and then at least every 6mths to a 1yr after that. As our aim to improve the breed we are very appreciative to receive photographs of how your kitten/ cat is developing. It is agreed that the kitten/ cat will never be advertised to be given away, sold, re-homed, or placed in a shelter. Coonmagic will be contacted prior to any decision to change the home setting
It has been firmly established that all kittens/ cats leaving Coonmagic are to be kept indoors-only or with a fully-enclosed cat run
It is fully understood that no kitten/ cat will ever be declawed
Please ensure you brush your kitten/ cat at least weekly to reduce knots and hair matting
It is agreed that you (the Buyer) will ensure regular Veterinarian consultations and will attend to at least annual reviews and scheduled vaccinations. Further, you (the Buyer) will not mistreat the cat/ kitten, cage it or withhold affection. You as the Buyer will guarantee to ensure the cat/ kitten has access to fresh water and food and clean litter trays. Failure to accommodate any of the above warrants neglect
It is agreed that the kitten/ cat will be surrendered to the Breeder if found to be ill, abused or neglected without refunding purchase price as this is a breach of contract
*** Coonmagic reserves the right to cancel any deposit held for a kitten and return the deposit
